Founded in 1994, the Palmer College of Chiropractic West Sports Council continues to be a leader in the education and professional development of the next generation of sports chiropractors. Through practical, skill-building opportunities, Council members gain the knowledge and experience that will allow them to be at the forefront of the profession after graduation.
Whether professional athlete or weekend warrior, the population is more active than ever, both working and playing hard. With this trend has come an increasing desire to maximize performance while minimizing injury, which has led many to seek the unique skill-set of the sports chiropractor to help them achieve this goal.
In addition to the athlete, race organizers are also actively seeking the services of the sports practitioner for the benefit of their competitors. For the past 16 years, event organizers throughout the state of California have sought the services of the Palmer West Sports Council to help minimize athlete injuries through both pre and post-event treatment, including injury evaluation, chiropractic manipulation, stretching, soft-tissue therapy, and taping. Council members are trained in both on and off-field settings, which includes course material focusing on sport-specific injury evaluation and treatment protocols. Students are CPR certified, and have training in common athletic emergency situations.
